JUSTIN MARKOTA
CONNECT WITH BKH
Attorney Justin Markota, a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley, is a graduate of Ursuline High School and Youngstown State University. He received his Juris Doctorate in 2014 from the Capital Law School in Columbus, Ohio and joined Betras, Kopp and Harshman in 2015.
Attorney Markota served an internship at the Mahoning County Treasurer’s Office and clerked for attorneys in Canfield and Cleveland while pursuing his law degree. He also coached baseball at Ursuline and football at Kennedy Catholic High School in Hermitage, PA.
Managing Partner David Betras noted that Attorney Markota is an extremely talented and committed lawyer who had ample opportunity to practice outside the Youngstown region. “Fortunately for us and the Valley he to return home after law school so he could help people living in this community seek and obtain justice,” Attorney Betras said.
“We believe, and the thousands of people who call on us to represent them agree, that it’s important to hire a law firm that has real ties to the Valley,” Attorney Betras said. “Justin, was raised here, went to school here, and now lives here. Like the other members of the BKH legal team, he understands our culture and most importantly, the local courts. Like all of us, he’s never more than a phone call away 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That local presence means a lot to the clients who entrust us with their case and that has always been a key factor in our ability to take on and beat the nation’s largest insurance companies,” Mr. Betras said.
Attorney Brian Kopp, leader of BKH’s complex litigation team, stated that his new colleague has demonstrated an intense interest in catastrophic personal injury matters, medical malpractice cases and complicated business litigation. “Justin possesses the work ethic that is characteristic of Valley residents. He’s willing to put in the long hours it takes to properly handle difficult cases,” Attorney Kopp said, “I am fortunate that this talented young lawyer has joined our team, and I look forward to his continued development.”
